If you’re just starting to plan your wedding entrance, this blog will show you how to make the most of this moment so it becomes one of your favourite wedding memories! And if you’ve already invited me to be part of your day, I’ll be guiding you through this process, so when the doors open and you hear your music, you’ll be ready to step into forever, knowing that this moment has been planned to perfection!
My top tips are perfect for every style of wedding, whether you’re getting married in a grand hotel or the great outdoors, and whether you prefer a traditional procession or a totally unique entrance. And even if you’re still in the early planning stages, you can start to visualise your aisle walk so you’ll feel more confident when you’re ready to plan the finer details.
So let’s get started…
Top Tip #1: Plan Your Procession
It helps to make a note of everyone that you’d like to be part of your procession so you can see exactly how many people are involved. This might include family members aswell as your I Do crew, plus mini VIPs / young children and even dogs of honour (yes puppy processionals are a thing!) You can also choose to walk in with your partner or plan two individual entrances if you like this idea, so take time to chat through all the different options to decide what feels right for you! Don’t forget to plan the order of your procession aswell and think about whether each person will walk solo or be accompanied.
Top Tip #2: Choose Your Music Carefully
This is one of the most important parts of your day so spend some time choosing music that will bring out the best emotions! While some couples choose one song for their entrance, my most popular request for walking down the aisle is a custom medley or mashup combining 2 or 3 songs. You’ll find lots of these featured in my Aisle Style playlist so if you’d like some inspiration, this is a good place to start! All my aisle music is customised so if you have a favourite section of a song that you’d like to hear as you’re walking down the aisle, I’ll work my magic to make sure the music is perfectly in sync with your entrance!
Top Tip #3: Share Your Plans With Your I Do Crew
Chat with your I Do crew well in advance so they know your entrance plans and discuss who will organise mini VIPs etc on the day so everything flows smoothly. Remind everyone who is part of the procession that they should stay together before your ceremony so there are no last minute changes. It’s also a good idea to share your music with your I Do crew beforehand if you’re not keeping this as a surprise, so they know what to expect on the day. If I’m performing at your wedding, you’ll receive studio recordings in advance, so you can approve these and share them with your crew if you wish.
Top Tip #4: Practice Walking With Your Music
I always recommend a few practice runs with your music in the lead up to your day as this helps you to set a comfortable pace where you’re walking slowly but not awkwardly. A long hallway or a garden is perfect for this! While very few musicians provide studio recordings in advance, this has been one of my top priorities for almost 15 years, not just to add excitement to your wedding journey but to give couples the chance to rehearse their entrance and enjoy this collaborative experience. I also offer additional services at no extra cost such as on-the-day co-ordination of your procession plus pre-programmed tracks with precise timings for rehearsals.
Top Tip #5: Relax And Enjoy The Moment
The best advice I can give to my couples is to relax and enjoy the moment when you are walking down the aisle and remember this is your time to shine! When you work with me, this moment will be carefully co-ordinated so you can soak up the vibes, embrace the emotions and appreciate the beautiful details. This moment should never feel rushed – it should feel like you’ve stepped into a dream where you are surrounded by love and those next few minutes should feel euphoric. Your soundtrack will set the scene for your arrival, bringing drama, suspense, excitement and joy, and when the music syncs perfectly with each moment, it’s truly magical.
Bonus Tip For Shy Couples: Focus On Each Other
Walking down the aisle is an incredibly special moment during your wedding day and even if you don’t absolutely love being in the spotlight, I promise you it will be an enjoyable experience! The secret is to stay focussed on each other instead of scanning the room – a simple smile or a sweet gesture instantly calms any nerves! It also helps to prepare for this moment in advance (listening to the music, practising walking slowly, visiting your venue and familiarising yourself with the ceremony space) so there are no surprises on the day.
I hope these tips will help you to feel completely confident and calm when you’re walking down the aisle so this becomes one of your best wedding memories!
