The sun was shining for today’s happy couple Kirsty and Stephen as they tied the knot in the fabulous Riverdale Barn in Aghagallon – a hidden gem near the south eastern shores of Lough Neagh! They both fell in love with this gorgeous venue the first time they saw it, and as soon as I arrived, I could see why! The uniquely restored mill farm buildings were a picture-perfect setting for their wedding and the wonderful weather was just a bonus! I loved the colourful and quirky decor today, which was very original and nostalgic! This free-spirited couple featured a Lego theme throughout their wedding, incorporating this fun retro style into the Order of Service, the flowers, the cake and even the place settings! Everyone also complimented the fantastic floral creations by Cottage Crafts and Flowers, especially the men’s buttonholes with Star Wars minifigures! It wasn’t long before the guests had gathered in The Arches and the ceremony was ready to begin! Kirsty had chosen Pachelbel’s ‘Canon In D’ for her entrance and its soft flowing melody added a beautiful backdrop to this special moment! Another romantic song provided a subtle accompaniment during the Signing, but it was a modern choice rather than a classical piece for this part – the ever-popular ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri. Then for their joyful exit as husband and wife, they had a special request – a song called ‘Shining Light’ by Northern Irish band Ash! As with a lot of songs which were originally written for guitar/vocals, there was no sheet music available, so I decided to create my own arrangement! As always, I prepared a recording in advance so they could listen to it before the big day and thankfully they both loved it! It was a great upbeat choice for their exit and I could see from their faces today that it was the perfect song to celebrate their love! Such a pleasure to play for this lovely couple at this stunning location! Wishing them lots of happiness as they build a brilliant new life together!
