Such a pleasure to provide music for Catherine and Fearghal’s wedding ceremony this afternoon at St Colman’s Church in Dunmore. Their playlist for today was incredibly personal and unique, and each piece of music was chosen because it had a special meaning for the couple! The ceremony began with an exciting entrance as the bridal party’s processional music was a complete surprise for Fearghal! It was also a new request for me, so earlier this year I sent Catherine a preview of the song so she could listen to my arrangement and thankfully she loved it! But the amazing acoustics in the church today added even more depth to the music and really brought the song to life as Catherine walked down the aisle to a special rendition of ‘Never Let Me Go’ by Florence and the Machine. From the moment this couple joined hands, I could see that they were enjoying every single second of their celebrations! For the Candle Lighting, Catherine and Fearghal chose a short instrumental from the movie ‘Up’ called ‘The Ellie Badge’ and it’s simple, sweet melody was just perfect for this moment! A beautiful old Irish air called ‘Sí Bheag, Sí Mhór’ (meaning ‘Little Fairy Hill, Big Fairy Hill’) also provided an elegant backdrop for the Offertory Procession and again, it was a great choice for this short musical interlude! During the Communion, I played two songs which the couple had chosen specially – ‘She’s Like The Wind’ from ‘Dirty Dancing’ and ‘Halo’ by Beyoncé. These two songs worked perfectly together and were incredibly captivating without being too dramatic! Then as the newlyweds signed the register, I played a romantic ballad written by Bob Dylan which later became a huge hit for Adele – ‘Make You Feel My Love’. For their joyful exit as husband and wife, the couple decided to liven things up with a quirky feel-good song by Regina Spektor called ‘Us’ and it was a fabulous choice for their grand finale! Absolutely loved being part of this gorgeous couple’s celebrations today and really enjoyed performing all their favourite songs! Wishing them the most fantastic future together and hoping the happiness of today lasts a lifetime!
